Create your Anime with Kage Studio
Kage Studio is a cross-platform 2D Vector Animation Software for Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu GNU/Linux written with GTKmm 3.0 that can export to HTML5 (canvas), PNG sequence, Spritesheet, SVG, video (via FFmpeg -- MP4, MKV, OGV, AVI, MOV), and KonsolScript.
Goal is to have a full-fledged, free and open source 2D animation software that is light weight, intuitive, and easy-to-use.

Version 0.8.240224
- Installer for 64bit Windows
- Installer for 64bit Ubuntu/Debian GNU/Linux
- Zipped MacOS Portable for Mac Intel
A Zipped Windows Portable is also available, and a Zipped Source Code, which is always available on SourceForge's SVN.
Above is a quick demo of what Kage Studio can do -- you can create a cutout-style animation, as well as import images which can be used as backgrounds.
As much as I'd like to tag this as minor update, it's not -- this update contains 4 fixes to bugs that would have prevented you from using Kage Studio. All of these bugs were introduced by the major re-write of Undo/Redo functionality.
Download Kage Studio v0.8 update and turn that imagination into animation then feel free tag me or Kage Studio on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, or Instagram.

Version 0.8.240210
- Installer for 64bit Windows
- Installer for 64bit Ubuntu/Debian GNU/Linux
- Zipped MacOS Portable for Mac Intel
A Zipped Windows Portable is also available, and a Zipped Source Code, which is always available on SourceForge's SVN.
The first obvious change is Kage Studio's new nocturnal-friendly interface, which you can toggle via View -> Toggle Dark Theme.
Second, is the addition of Scene, located along Layer and Timeline Pane. This will allow you to manage your animation better by splitting the shots into multiple Scenes then focus on animating shot after shot.
The major change is lying under the hood -- a major rewrite of Undo/Redo functionality! This is to allow Undo and Redo of changes made in any Frame, from any Layer, and any Scene; including renaming, re-ordering, deletion, and addition of Frames, Layers, and Scenes -- yes, you can undo deletion of Frame, Layer, and Scene! How great is that? This much needed rewrite was four years in the making. Like previous versions, the Undo Stack is still not capped -- let's see how much Undo will it be able to stack before performance issue is observed. Be sure to provide your feedback on the forums.
A feature worth noting is the added ability to apply Alpha on imported Image -- this will allow you to do fade-in and fade out, or simply employ a translucent smoke, sky, etc.
Minor changes are widening of the default Stage size from 600p to 720p -- but 800x600 will be back once Ticket 180 is implemented. Of course nothing stops you from setting the State area on Properties Pane. And widening of Frames UI from 8px to 12px -- this came about when I was trying out a display tablet and realized the Frame UI was too small to select on a particular frame on Timeline Pane. The height was good enough but the width requires widening so that's been taken cared of.
Now, go download Kage Studio v0.8! And when you'll be posting your work online, feel free tag me or Kage Studio on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, or Instagram.

Version 0.7.230723 (codename Ellen)
- Installer for 64bit Windows
- Installer for 64bit Ubuntu/Debian GNU/Linux
- App for MacOS:
A Zipped Windows Portable is also available, and the source code is always available on SourceForge's SVN.
Ellen is a special version between v0.7 and v0.8, dedicated to my wife -- it packs a milestone feature for Kage Studio.
With codename Ellen, Kage Studio now supports loading of PNG into your animation. It fully supports moving the image around the stage which you can tween -- imagine cars moving behind your animation. The sky. The mountain. A plane. Just get that ready-made PNG image and animate like crazy with Kage Studio.
It also supports rotating the image and partially supports scaling of image -- although still problematic but workable, nonetheless.
Ellen happened because last month, June 2023, I started a collab with Gayumamela creator, Art DeLata, to create a teaser for his manga.
With previous state of Kage Studio, I will either have to re-create Gayumamela art without gradients and blurs, or implement Image-handling on Kage Studio so I can use the actual Gayumamela art. So, yes, I picked the path to least resistance... implement Image-handling inside Kage Studio. :D and before the end of June, I can already tween an image across the Stage.
Codename Ellen packs four fixes and over twenty-three feature requests.

Had few hiccups for v0.7 initial release -- the build was buggy.
Raised 3 tickets to describe the problem which were all fixed right away.

Instead of releasing v0.7b, previous v0.7 was overwritten with corrections for above bugs.
